How To Join

Carrollton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association

CCPA
The first step in joining our group is graduation from the Carrollton Citizen Police Academy (CCPA). You sign up, then wait to be accepted. After acceptance, you attend the one day a week 14-week course.

After graduation from the CCPA, you are given the opportunity to join the Carrollton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CCPAAA).

CCPAAA
If you choose to join, your level of participation is up to you. You can help with the operation and support of the CCPAAA or go a level farther and join the Citizens Patrol (COP).

COP
Citizen Patrol supports the Carrollton Police in many ways, from patrolling the city as extra eyes and ears of the police department to fingerprinting.

Here you will receive basic training on the services we do for the PD, then a patrol trainer will help you receive the additional training you need to perform these services. You may find areas that interest you more than others. You do not have to participate in all the services we provide.

For more information regarding dates for the next Carrollton Citizen Police Academy, please visit The City of Carrollton website.

Citizen Police Academy

Volunteers are each assigned individual patrol ID numbers and badges that are registered with the City and with 911 Dispatch. Our volunteers go “in-service” with dispatch just as our police officers do, allowing our volunteers and 911 Dispatch to work together as the members patrol the city.

Non-Profit

Carrollton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is a Texas non-profit corporation and has IRS 501(c)3 status.

CCPAAA

The purpose of the organization is to bring together graduates of the Carrollton Citizen Police Academy to enhance the relationship between the Alumni Association, the community and the Carrollton Police Department.
